Class Task #5
6 02 20081) How did you enjoy the film? What stood out for you?
I didn’t really enjoy the film. It was very disturbing to see that this is what happening all around the world. What really stood out to me was despite all the effort this woman put into getting these kids into schools and giving them a GOOD education, some of the parents withdrew them even though they agreed they wouldnt.
2) Did you learn anything new about photography, life, people? What?
I learned that anyone has the skill to take good pictures when given the oppourtunity. Like these children from the brothel. They probably didnt even know how to use a camera but once they learned they were able to capture beautiful and proffessional photgraphs. I also learned because these kids where given the oppourtunityy, they are porbably gonna have very bright futures.
3) How do you think the world needs to change? How important is this?
I think people should pay attention to less fortunate countries like India. This is important because as we continuee to live decent lives, people all around the world are suffering. We have a good education, shelter, and food while in 3rd world countries, like India, people hardly have a home and children are stuck working instead of going to school like normal kids should. The least we can do is give these children a decent education so their futures can be a little brighter.
4) What are you willing to do TODAY to be a part of that change?
I am willing to donate money towards better education in third world countries.
5) Do you know a good song/rap/poem with good lyrics about change in the world?
Post a link or lyrics to share it with us.
6) Pick a non-profit organization that is important to you.Why is this important to you?
Do they have a website?
A non-profit organization that is important to me is the Heart and Stroke foundation. It is very important to me because my father died from a heart attack like many people do across the world. This organization puts effort into finding a cure for heart disease and helping those who have suffered in the past. The website www.heartandstroke.ca
7) What ideas do you have for media arts projects that we could do individually or as a class to help contribute to these
organizations that are important to us?
We could take photographs and sell them and give the profit to organizations that are important to us.

Class Task #4
23 01 20081) Will a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image be clearer when printed out at the same size? How come?
An image printed out with 300 dpi will be much clearer than the image with 72 dpi because there are more pixels to work with per a square inch of the picture (DPI) the higher quality the photo is.
2) What would a picture created at 1 dpi look like?
A picture created at 1 dpi would have a very low resolution, hence it would be very blurry.

Class Task #3
18 12 20071. Magnetic lasso
2. Magic wand
3. Combination
Questions
1. I used a combination of the magnetic lasso tool and the eraser. I used the magnetic tool to go around the fruit bowl and then I zoomed into specific areas, especially the bottom of the bowl, and used the eraser to erase the uneven edges.
2. I found the magentic lasso the most helpful because it was very simple to use and did a sufficient job isolating the fruit bowl.
3.
When expanding or contracting, the selection marquee increases or decreases by the number of pixels you input. Feathering gives the selection a soft edge. Creating a soft edge around a selection can blend images, highlight objects, and adjust harsh edges.
